The first B+ class hybrid sedan in BYD's Ocean series will be unveiled on the first day of the Shanghai auto show on April 18, the new energy vehicle (NEV) maker announced yesterday.

The company did not reveal the model's name yesterday, but announced in a Weibo post today that it is called Destroyer 07 (驱逐舰07 in Chinese).

BYD's passenger car product matrix includes the Dynasty and Ocean series, of which the only model with the "Destroyer" name is currently the Destroyer 05 plug-in hybrid.

The Destroyer 05 was officially launched on March 17 last year and currently has a starting price range of RMB 121,800 ($17,710) to RMB 157,800. The model delivered 3,911 units in March, down 21.31 percent from February, according to data monitored by CnEVPost.

In addition to the Destroyer 07, BYD will also unveil the Song L, a B-class all-electric SUV from the Dynasty series, at the Shanghai auto show.

The Song L will come with electronic rearview mirrors, according to two images released last week.

Zeekr, Geely's premium electric vehicle brand, has begun deliveries of the Zeekr 009 MPV with Qilin Battery, the first time this ultra-long range battery pack has been available to the general public.

Deliveries of the ME version of the Zeekr 009 MPV have officially begun, marking the global debut of the Qilin Battery in a production vehicle, Zeekr announced yesterday on its mobile app.

The Zeekr 009 ME version is powered by a battery pack with a capacity of 140 kWh that provides a CLTC range of 822 km, the highest of any pure electric MPV, Zeekr said.

CATL officially launched the Qilin Battery, or CTP (cell to pack) 3.0 battery, on June 23 last year, claiming to bring a new level of battery system integration to a new level.

The Qilin Battery allows volume utilization to exceed 72 percent and energy density to reach 255Wh/kg, supporting a vehicle range of 1,000 kilometers, the company said at the time.

On August 27 last year, Zeekr and CATL announced that the Zeekr 009 would be the world's first vehicle to carry the Qilin Battery, while the Zeekr 001 would use an ultra-long-range version of the Qilin Battery and would be the world's first production vehicle to carry the 1,000-kilometer range Qilin Battery.

On November 1 last year, Zeekr launched the Zeekr 009, which is available in two versions, WE and ME, with starting prices of RMB 499,000 ($72,560) and RMB 588,000 respectively.

The WE version is equipped with a ternary lithium battery pack with a capacity of 116 kWh and a CLTC range of 702 km. Deliveries of this version of the Zeekr 009 began on January 15.

The Zeekr 009 comes standard with a dual-motor drive system, both with 400 kW of peak motor power and 686 Nm of peak torque, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds.

Zeekr delivered 6,663 vehicles in March, up 271.20 percent from 1,795 in the same month last year and up 22.14 percent from 5,455 in February, according to figures it announced on April 1.

Toyota's first all-electric sedan, the bZ3, was officially launched in China, after the BYD battery- and motor-equipped model went on pre-sale early last month.

Toyota's joint venture in China, FAW Toyota, officially made the bZ3 available at a launch event yesterday, offering three versions with starting prices of RMB 169,800 ($24,710), 189,800 and 199,800 respectively.

The model was unveiled in China on October 25 last year and is the second model in Toyota's bZ series after the bZ4X SUV.

On March 6, FAW Toyota started the pre-sale of the bZ3 with a price range of RMB 169,800 - 199,800. The official launch prices announced yesterday were the same as the pre-sale prices.

As of April 16, orders for the bZ3 reached 5,000 units, FAW Toyota said yesterday.

Unlike the approach of many local car companies, the bZ3 began its first deliveries at the same time as its official launch.

The car is a midsize electric sedan based on the Toyota e-TNGA architecture. It measures 4,725 mm in length, 1,835 mm in width and 1,475 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,880 mm and a wind resistance coefficient of as low as 0.218 cd.

The FAW Toyota bZ3 will be equipped with an electric motor and blade battery pack supplied by BYD, and will use an in-car system developed by BYD Toyota EV Technology, a joint venture between BYD and Toyota.

The bZ3 is equipped with a single rear-mounted electric motor, available in 135 kW and 180 kW sizes, both with a peak torque of 303 Nm. This configuration allows the sedan to accelerate from 0 to 50 km/h in 3.2 seconds.

The car is available in two range versions, with CLTC ranges of 517 km and 616 km, and with battery packs of 49.9 kWh and 65.3 kWh respectively.

The FAW Toyota bZ3 supports fast charging, taking 27 minutes to replenish energy from 30 percent to 80 percent on a DC charge.
